Whole-child support, every school day
Education alone isn't enough. Our five programs work together to support students' health, learning, independence, and happiness.
The Arts
Our arts programs include painting, music, and dance. They bring out creativity and enthusiasm in the kids and teach them skills far beyond the classroom.
A group of student artists have sold their paintings to create a self-sustaining program. Their work funds more art supplies, and their success builds real confidence.
Dance workshops led by Shiamak Davar's Institute for the Performing Arts bring professional choreographers into the school, and every student takes the floor. It is one of the loudest, happiest rooms in the building.
Therapy & Nutrition
Our therapy programs provide physical therapy, speech therapy, and counseling to students. All three are essential to children's development, both emotionally and physically.
Our nutrition program provides hot, freshly-made meals every day, healthy snacks such as bananas and milk, and nutritional supplements to bring students out of malnourishment. For many of our students, the meal they eat at school is the most reliable one of their day.
Vocational Training
Our vocational training programs give older students the skills they need to succeed in jobs, and we focus heavily on making sure they're supported through the transition from school into work.
The programs range from computer training to kite making to card drawing. Alumni also make crutches and casts in a workshop, building workforce skills while producing equipment that current students actually use.
Accessibility
Enabling differently-abled children to be independent is the best way to build confidence and create positive outcomes.
We fund wheelchairs, renovate school buildings to make them accessible, and provide accessible transportation, including school buses that can actually carry our students. See our Restroom Renovation Project for one example of what that looks like in practice.
Fun!
Recess, playtime, friends, sports, games, toys: some of the best parts of childhood. Learn to Love sponsors parties, donates toys and games, and brings in dance workshops and celebrations throughout the year.
The best part of our work is seeing the kids' smiles light up the school.
These programs run on our donors' generosity.
Learn to Love is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a zero-overhead policy. Every cent of your tax-deductible donation goes to children in need.
