Investing in projects that change our students' lives for the better
Alongside our ongoing programs, we invest deeply in initiatives that change our students' daily lives in a lasting way.
The Restroom Renovation Project
A clean, accessible bathroom sounds like a small thing. For our students, it was the difference between going to school and staying home.
The SEC campuses were built long before accessibility was part of the plan. The bathrooms had only squat toilets set into narrow stalls: no grab bars, no room to bring a wheelchair, no way for most of our students to manage on their own.
The consequences were predictable – and entirely preventable. Students avoided the bathroom all day, got sick, felt humiliated, and eventually started missing school altogether, all because one ordinary daily need went unmet.
The biggest hurdle was funding. Generous donors gave Learn to Love enough support to make the project possible, and construction ran for two years. The 400+ students who attend each year finally gained access to sanitary, comfortable, accessible bathrooms, which they proudly named the "Bollywood" bathrooms.
Learn to Love extends the deepest gratitude to the donors who funded this. It would not have happened without you.
Campus Security System
Independence and safety should not be a trade-off. Keeping students safe on campus often means keeping a close eye on them, which limits how freely they can move around on their own.
We are funding a security system across the SEC campuses: monitored entry points and cameras in the shared outdoor spaces. The goal is simple. Staff can be confident everyone is safe, and students can spend time outside, move between buildings, and play without an adult at their shoulder.
Supporting students through school closures
When schools closed, our students lost far more than classes. The meals, doctor's visits, therapy, medicine, and medical equipment they rely on all stopped at once.
Working with our partners, we sent support directly to students' homes. $65 a month covered the food and medical essentials a student and their family needed. We delivered over $20,000 in direct aid, and our donors received some very sweet thank-you notes in return.
